How to play
Swap two letters at a time until every row and column spells a word.
GreenThe right letter in the right spot. It stays there.
Gold, bar underThe letter is in the word across, but in another spot.
Gold, bar besideThe letter is in the word down, but in another spot.
PlainThe letter belongs in a different word.
SwapsEvery puzzle gives you five swaps more than a perfect solve needs, and five stars. Every swap beyond the fewest possible takes a star away, so a perfect solve keeps all five. If you run out of swaps, keep going, because every puzzle can be finished.
UndoUndo takes back a swap, but the swap still counts.
AfterWhen you finish, you can watch a perfect solve, replay your own swaps one at a time, or play the puzzle again for practice. Your stats and the share keep your first result.
Two gamesEach day has both a Rotas Lattice and a Rotas Square game. In Rotas Square, each row reads the same as the matching column. The marked middle row is the word of the day, and when you finish you learn where it came from.
